ETHCC 7 RECAP

Oxido Solutions attended the 7th edition of EthCC from July 8-11 in Brussels, the world’s largest Ethereum community event. We launched our Ethereum trading bot during EthCC to meet the growing demand for generating passive income in ETH from our network of professional investors.

Our goal was also to assess the quality of the ETH ecosystem to better understand Ethereum’s liquidity and long-term sustainability from a trading perspective.

Here are the key takeaways from our sessions and conversations with ETH developers, VCs, and other participants:

ETH Developers: The community feels less idealistic than previous editions. Many developers have shifted from idealism to money-driven activities like bounty hunting and speculative meme coin trading.

Founders: Many founders are experiencing fatigue and wish to exit, though they remain committed to ensuring their projects thrive without their direct involvement.

VC Insights: Venture capital funds lack conviction and are focused on finding teams with vision and strong work ethics. Many are either fundraising or reallocating profits into missed liquid tokens.

Real-World Assets: The space is active, but projects may be building supply without realistic demand, aiming to sell infrastructure to institutions that might already have preferred partners.

DAO Dynamics: DAOs often suffer from “paralysis by analysis.” Improved financial planning is needed for many treasuries to manage yield generation, cash flow, and hedging strategies.

TradFi Participation: Traditional finance takes a long-term approach by thoroughly testing before scaling. The strongest Layer 1 solutions are likely to find scalability and application in the next 1-3 years with institutional capital. Many TradFi professionals are significant DeFi users.

Regulatory Importance: Teams that tackle regulatory and compliance challenges are more likely to thrive but face hurdles across multiple jurisdictions.

Most Insightful Session: During a keynote speech, ETH founder Vitalik Buterin called for unity among developers to protect Ethereum from potential 51% attacks. He emphasized the need to strengthen the network, highlighting both its strengths and weaknesses. His message was clear: Ethereum’s future relies on the collective effort of its developers to ensure its security and resilience.

Our Favorite App: Slise. This CRM system for Telegram helps organize information and is currently in the beta phase. It’s promising and solves a real problem compared to many other projects showcased at EthCC.

Our Final Take: With the likely approval of ETH ETFs on the horizon, we’re confident in Ethereum as a tradeable asset for our bots. However, we have reservations about the overall quality of the ETH ecosystem. Additionally, we believe there’s a real chance that Solana could surpass Ethereum as a platform.
